i have both sql server 2008 and sql server 2005 in my machine. when i try to debugg in 2008 it says
Unable to start the Transact-SQL debugger. Transact-SQL debugger does not support sql server 2005 and earlier versions.

I started only the 2008 studio...when i see help-> about i see only 2008. how do i determine which instance of the server is running now?
can they co-exist?

Perhaps you are connected to a 2005 instance. Run SELECT @@VERSION to check.
