hi
is there any possibility to have a "shared disk" for a cluster with a local hard disk attached to one of them instead of a separate storage media? for example i use one of the system's secondary hard disk which is not used in any way and share it for the other node of the cluster. the share name may be the same and both may use the same share name to access the disk. is it possible?
i don't want to use any storage media other than a hard disk. is it possible to use a hard disk storage media as the shared disk for the cluster in any way?
thx

Doesn't that defy the whole purpose of creating a cluster? That the sql server service should still be provided in case of a hardware failure...?

i just need to know whether it's possible.
consider the case i've not so many loads on the cluster, but i just need it to be highly available. a regular hard disk may be enough (size, speed, ...), but the cluster must exist for preparing high availability.
so plz reread my text and answer to it again based on this info
thx

To be honest I have no idea...it has never occurred to me to set up a cluster like this and I seriously doubt that it ever will. It's actually windows that handles the clustering, not sql server so you can just as well try your question in the Clustering-forum at technet -> http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/winserverClustering/threads/.
