Google MTF files. It is most likely NOT a backp file, I found hits for a Motorola Theme file and recommendations to scan registry. Most sites I cannot hit at work, sorry. What leads you to believe the MTF is a backup of the mdf? Have you run a DBCC CheckDB on the database that you think is backed up to the MTF? How did you determine the MTF is corrupted?- To plagarize Gail's favorite, first response: "run DBCC CHECKDB (<Database Name>) WITH NO_INFOMSGS, ALL_ERRORMSGS" and post the results if errors exist.Terry-- The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money. -- Margaret Thatcher |

Hmm, wasn't in the top 10 on Google yesterday (using simply MTF file), and as stated, I am resticted a bit at work from getting in to certain sites so I gleened what I could from the notes on Google. Never thought of Microsoft tape format, never used it. I always go to disk and then to tape but, hey, I learned something new today!! And, perhaps BOL should be my first stop, eh? Right there, as plain as the nose on my face. Thanks Gail.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178062.aspxhttp://www.tapedatarecovery.net/tape-format.htmlTerry-- The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money. -- Margaret Thatcher |

MTF is a Microsoft Tape Format reader. It will read tapes created with the Windows NT/2000 backup utilityrajesh_singh |
