Hi fellow yaks,as some of you might know I work in a somewhat large (by Norwegian standards) IT consulting company and I've been given the task of creating a "sql-server-for-not-just-dummies" for my colleagues. My audience are highly skilled people in the IT industry, mostly hands-on people within infrastructure but also developers and maybe even some project managers/team leaders. Most of them encounter SQL Server on a weekly/monthly basis and they all know *something* about it, but they could very well learn more.So my question is: what do you think would be suitable topics for a course like this? What do you think consultants would benefit the most in knowing about SQL Server?- LumbagoIf the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts. Albert Einstein |

Errrm you are a Master and I'm a SQL newbie but what I love about learning SQL Server is being set problems, and using MSDN and Query Editor to test my solutions. You could set a series of real life problems, from simple to complex, and let the developers find their way through depending on their interests and previous experience. The only problem with that would be the level of detailed knowledge required by some things - perhaps you could provide some of the SQL "Bibles" for reference. |

I appreciate the feedback Liz but I'm afraid it's a little too late...the courses were held last week - LumbagoIf the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts. Albert Einstein |
