So I have discovered that there are two kinds of pricing for SQL Server 2008 standard, we can either go $789/server + $144/CAL or $5,039/CPU for unlimited CALs.We will be using SQL Server in an OLAP environment, primarily using Reporting Services. I am assuming that reporting services counts as only one connection to the database, regardless of how many people are accessing the web component? |

Here's another question, if I were to get Windows Server 2008 with 5 Cals, do I have the same issues? Do I need the same number of CALs for Windows Server as SQL Server? thanks. |

SQL Server licensing is a science by it self. You have to go to onsite training at Microsoft in Redmond for 5 years I hear...No seriously; you should ask the people you buy your licenses from. Then they will be the ones to blame if you get it wrong. When I'm asked about licensing I basically look the other way or something...- LumbagoIf the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts.
