Many users are connected with databases in my production server(SQL SERVER 2005) & tempdb is going to be full. What should I do now? As it is production server so I can’t restart the server.I think I should not run DBCC shrinkdatabase or Shrinkfile as users are connected . Please give me some good solution |

I believe the only option is to locate the transaction that has filled tempdb... it is probably ina stalled state. Kill the trans, wait for rollback, analyze tempdb to determine if space has been freed and your instance will be ok again. To fix the root cause you either have to make the trans. smaller or enlarge your tempdb. |

Make sure the Growth setting on TempDB is not fixed with a hard ceiling and can grow as needed. |
