What is the best way to monitor page splits.

I know you can use the performance monitor counter Page Splits / Sec counter.
How do you interpret this? What is a good number to have? What value is too high?

Is there another way to monitor page splits? Like a DMV?

Thanks

It should be less than 20

How have you setup Fillfactor? Increased fillfactor means there is more room for Data pages/Index pages.
