Hello All
the USE AWE to allocate memory was not checked on the server properties.

the server has been experienceing high 100% disk que and
buffer cache hit ratio down to 86

since I check the AWE box it seems to have gotten better, but
there were also over 200 sleeping connection that I killed.

so I am not sure what made the difference.

any thoughts
Steve

I read that you need to enable lock pages in Memory for AWE. but this could also have bad results on server.

the server has 3.5 gig of Ram
server 2003 SP2
sql 2005 9.0.3042
intel xeon 3ghz 4 processors

I had also added update statistic to the maint. plan that backups up nightly. added some indexs.

You need to increase the memory.
