| Hi all, Just ran into a problem trying to apply CU5 to Service Pack 3 . . . It won't apply it. I run through the wizard get to the point that says "We have enough Information . . .." click next and although It shows as in progress for the Database Engine, and the progress bar is showing as 0% . . . . . it reads as Hotfix Applied above that . . . . . Click next tells me it has been applied . . . check the log and it says . . "Not Applied"I'm confused . . . Ok thats easy to do . . . So just for laughs I downloaded and applied CU 4 . . . . and That works.I've uninstalled and reinstalled SQL Server (Good thing its a new box) . . . and even left the Progress screen 'working' over this weekend .. . no joy . . . and even with CU4 installed it still does not want to apply CU5.Yet I have applied CU5 to other servers with No Issues . . . I'm tempted to wait for CU 6, but does anyone have any idea what to try next?-- RegardsTony The DBA |

| Anyone??I'm working my way through our sever estate, and in most cases If I apply SP3 and then try to apply CU5 (Build 9.0.4230) it does not apply anything . . . and yet CU4 (build 9.0.4226) applies fine ... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972511-- RegardsTony The DBA |

| my take is if it's not needed don't patch with CFs, wait for the SP...cumulative hotfixes are primarily for affected systems--------------------keeping it simple... |

Service Pack 3 CU5 problems
