Already have two SQL instances running on a windows 2003 - 2 node cluster, The default instance is 2000 EE sp4 and with a named instance 2005 EE sp3 running. Both are 32 bit. Well the Enterprise Architect is asking me to install another 2000 instance. I don't think this will work, I remember a requirement that the 2000 instance(s) had to be installed first, but can't find any documentation to back me up.Of course, I already know each instance should have it's own cluster group, cluster name, ip, and disk resources. Not to mention, 2000 hasn't been supported under mainstream for more than 2 years. Since many of our vendor apps are no longer supporting and no money to aquire or develop anything else I'm trapped! Oh, the 2000 instance listen's on port 1434 and 2005 on 1433.Can anyone provide me with a link that confirms that you can't add a 2000 instance on the windows cluster after a 2005 instance exits? Thanks - Linda |

the best way to figure this out is to try installing it yourself in another test clustermy belief is always to try it out instead of relying on documentations (which are often good but not good enough in real life scenario), you may be surprised at hacks that you never thought would work but they do...quote: Originally posted by dba13 Already have two SQL instances running on a windows 2003 - 2 node cluster, The default instance is 2000 EE sp4 and with a named instance 2005 EE sp3 running.
