Hi Everyone,

This is my first post on here so firstly thanks for having me! I am currently looking into implementing an SQL 2005 cluster with MSCS using 2 identical IBM HS21 blades and an IBM SVC SAN.

The plan is for me to install the OS disk on a local disk inside each blade whilst the quorum/database disks will reside on the SAN with 2 fibre connections for each from the bladecenter for redundancy. We have 2 datacenters (each containing 1 storage array) and 1 blade will be in each datacenter with the quorum/data volumes zoned so that each blade will be able to 'see' it.

Obviously, I want to make the solution as robust as possible. With this in mind, is it possible to mirror the quorum/data disks across my 2 datacenters so as to provide resilliance in the event of storage failure in 1 datacenter? If so, are there any specific dos or donts or is it just a simple mirror just as you would do any other?

Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

you won't be able to use sql mirroring for this one as far as i know,
what you need is an open geographical distribution system that will mirror/replicate the disk content from one location to another (if i understood your requirement correctly, the servers will be in a metropolitan area network?)

just my 2 cents
