There are a lot of jobs going at the moment with SSIS & SSAS and I don't have experience.Do you need to have Enterprise to have SSIS? I am not sure - been hunting MSDN... which edition(s) is it?I know evaluations are there. I thought SSIS would be simple to use, but it's harder than I thought. I need to get serious. I used to work with UNIX & sed & awk to import and migrate text files. Microsoft is different. What do I need in order to change current setup of Express and get practicing? Do I need to spend money? |

If its on your workstation get the developer edition. express is a limited version.Other versions abound, e.g. web, workgroup, standard and enterprise for the server OS, developer is for workstations |

Thank you. Good point. I am hoping to learn what I can about SSIS by playing with it at home, without paying, as I am doing with Express 2008. I know exactly what the editions are all for. (Apart from the web one...) but have no idea of the cost of them... and don't really want to know...!I have no idea how SSIS comes. An add-on? Does it cost money? I've seen a Developer edition of SQL Server 2008 on Amazon for £50. Is this right? I though SQL Server was £2-3,000. Can't someone tell me? Is SSIS free once you have an edition installed? What can't you do with Developer? |

you can do with developer everything you can do with enterprise, which is the highest version, except run it on a server environment.Yes developer is less than £50. Regarding prices, they vary in terms of versions, for the server versions. |

sorry, been up lincolnshire on holiday, and browsing was quite poor.SQL Server Developer Edition includes the same features as SQL Server Enterprise Edition, but is limited by the license to be only used as a development and test system, and not as production serverYes, you can.
