Does any know how to find out which ports are definitely open and available on my employers network. I am trying to configure an outside email account for college and cannot get a SMTP outgoing port. We have exchange and i know our mail goes out from that, anyone know how i can find an open port to use.

I tried: netstat -an |find /i "listening" > c:'openports.txt but none of those listed there worked.

Does anyone have any other suggestions, i can receive mail using port 995 but cannot send it out and thats really what i want, this way i can manage all my email for work and school in outlook at one spot and when i send an email out it will come go out using my school email and not the work email.

any help is greatly appreciated.

crazy suggestion:

Ask your infrastructure guys in your organisation?

I don't think you are going to get much other advice about discovering vulnerabilities in your network infrastructure from here. You are talking to a bunch of dba's and other database professionals. Security matters.

I am not trying to hack into anything, i just want to save myself time and having mail in one spot will be beneficial. I just thought someone else may have encountered similar problems. I am sure blocked ports are common among employers.

My network folks are terrible, half the time they tell me to use google to figure out my problem. You can never get to the correct person who actually does the work and knows what you need. Have to go through 10 people. I am better off figuring it on my own. If i had correct permissions id do most stuff myself.

It takes 10 days to get them to grant me access to a shared folder, all you need to do is check off a dam$ box and click ok.
