I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite l305 laptop with Vista Home Premium (64 bit). I have already installed SQL Server 2005 (dev edition), Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008. I tried installing SQL Server 2008 before VS 2008 and immediately upon reading the DVD got the message ".NET Framework 3.5 has failed. SQL Server setup requires .NET framework 3.5 to be installed." and the installation would go no further. I installed VS 2008 thinking it would take care of the framework 3.5 issue but again attempted to install SQL Server 2008 and same message. It does not think the framework is there but IT IS! I installed (repaired) the framework by downloading from MS website and even installed the Windows Installer 4.5. I have run all the updates to my OS and to the other MS packages. Anyone else experienced this? Help?! |

Which edition of SQL Server are you trying to install? Certain ones won't run on Vista Home Premium:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506.aspxIf you have a version that will install, try installing service pack 1 for Vista if you don't already have it. |
