I've improved the search a little (http://www.sqlteam.com/Search.asp). I wrote an article a year ago (!) about the search method uses on SQLTeam (http://www.sqlteam.com/item.asp?ItemID=1876). I reduced the number of tables scans and changed the relative weights. Words in the title are now given a higher weight than words in the body of the article. Also articles are rated on a scale of 1-100 based on how many words are found. It's still not ideal but it's getting better. And I finally display the year for the data publised on the articles :)There is also the option to search using Google if you're interested.===============================================Creating tomorrow's legacy systems today. One crisis at a time. |

Graz,I had occasion to use the new Search for articles this afternoon and it looks great! I like the new rating system much better, and now I know what year I'm in, too! Woo-Hoo!! But seriously, get ready for an infusion of new viewers. I'm heavily promoting your site (especially the articles) to a group of about 40 web application developers, many of whom have little experience with SQL Server, but are being coerced into using it (as much as I can push it, that is).--------------------------------There's a new General in town...Edited by - AjarnMark on 01/22/2002 18:16:18 |
