I'm trying to install sql server 2008 standard on windows 2003 server R2.This is in a virtual machine using MS virtual PC 2007.When I get to Installation Rules in the setup it saysRule "Operating system supported for edition" failedThis SQL Server edition is not supported on this operating system. See SQL Server boks online for information about supported operating systems for SQL Small Business Server edition.Don't know where it gets the small business server edition from as I am installing from the iso imageen_sql_server_2008_standard_x86_x64_dvd_x14-88742.isoSystem says my OS isMicrosoft Windows Server 2003 R2Standard EditionService Pack 2I'm downloading it again as it looks like the image has been updated since I got that one.Anyone know why it's coming up with this error?==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |

I have a feeling it might not work in virtual PC and I have to use virtual server instead. That would be a bit of a pain.==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |

If I'm not mistaken, Virtual PC only allows 32 bit operating systems. You're trying to install a 64 bit SQL Server. Try installing the 32 bit version of SQL Server--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |
