can anyone confirm if this is possible. I have 2 sql servers:

D5 = sql server running 2000 version 8.0.2039
D6 = sql server running 2008 version 10.0.1600

I am using the SSMS in 2008 and linking to my D5 server.

Can i modify sql server agent jobs(those stored on D5) from D6 and will and job changes take effect properly.

I have same sql accounts and permissions on both servers as DBO. For some reason i have been finding that my jobs are not working properkly when i make modifications from D6. I cant seem to figure out why if i am a DBO on both servers.

I am getting weird memmory errors or parts of the jobs dont seem to run or parts are not working right. I cant seem to pin down exactly whats going on.

I am going to stick with 2000 for editing from now on but now its almost like i need to recreate any jobs ive modified so they will run properly. never had any problems before. They are all stored on D5, i am just modifying and saving from D6.

Anyone read anything on MSFT site or have any info?

TIA

Why you need to change jobs from other server?

i dont have to, i am just trying to acclimate myself to new sql08 and while i am migrating from 2000 to 2008 i just forget to go back to 00 to make changes to the older jobs. It seems like it shouldnt matter since its just straight sql code. I was curious if anyone else had any experience with this.
