We are currently trying to upgrade our SQL Server from 2005 to 2008. We run Windows Server 2003 and I have solved all of the issues except one failure. The error is:Rule "SQL Server Service Health Check" failed. The SQL server cannot be restarted. Has anyone seen this message? Do you know of a fix? |

It sounds like an in-place upgrade, just wanted to confirm with you. And What Service pack of Windows your server is running on. |

We are running Windows Server SP2 Standard. We get the same error if we are doing the upgrade and if we try to do a stand alone install. |

Check Windows event log and post error details when you run upgrade. Does it stop at particular step or didn't start at all. |
