Hi experts.Recently, my administrator removed the domain controller that is deployed on the database server - and to my horror, I am unable to log in any more. Each time I try to start the service I got this TITLE: Surface Area Configuration------------------------------The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion, you need administrator privileges to be able to start/stop this service. (SQLSAC)The problem i am sign in as an administrator account to resolve this issue. When I check the application log, I got the following error: Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: MSSQLSERVEREvent Category: (2)Event ID: 17049Date: 12/16/2008Time: 3:24:03 PMUser: N/AComputer: SV06Description:Unable to cycle error log file from 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG.1' to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG.2' due to OS error '5(Access is denied.)'. A process outside of SQL Server may be preventing SQL Server from reading the files. As a result, errorlog entries may be lost and it may not be possible to view some SQL Server errorlogs. Make sure no other processes have locked the file with write-only access."For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.Data:0000: 99 42 00 00 10 00 00 00 ?B......0008: 05 00 00 00 53 00 56 00 ....S.V.0010: 30 00 36 00 00 00 00 00 0.6.....0018: 00 00 .. Help is greatly appreciated.Thank youRegards,Eugenecheck out my blog at http://www.aquariumlore.blogspot.com |

Sodeep, yes. =( as a result all database connections died for all applications depending on database. The ERP was down as cannot connect to database and whole office was in an uproar - I was frantically switching to backup database server, using backup data, but the backup data is outdated (we backup once a month). sigh.
