Hello,I am sure this an elementary question, but I really don't know where to start to get an answer. I was recently hired as MIS at a company that uses SQL extensively. Though I am not immediately responsible for the admin of SQL, I have been tasked with finding ways to cuts costs and improve efficiency throughout the department. One thing that has really jumped out at me is the fact that this company has 13 sql servers each servicing one client company database. the database is accessed via a web front end for processing credit card transactions.I was under the impression that a MSSQL server can host multiple "SECURE" databases that can operate completely autonomously from one another. Am I wrong? Or shouldn't it be possible to have one or two buff sql servers running multiple databases rather than dedicating an entire hardware server to each database?Thanks!-Tony |
