I've been below 10 posts per day for at least a year I believe. By SDU, do you mean SDSU? If so, then yes I've visited there. I graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics with emphasis in Computer Science from SDSU. And if the next question has to do with the drug arrests made recently, I can confirm that SDSU is a party school although not in the Math department. Mainly logical thinking. If you think of a geometry proof, you have to boil out all of the extraneous information, until you are left with bare bones A implies B therefore C must be. Then there is thinking in terms of sets (discrete math, and/or set theory). All of this is somewhat incidental to the actual math courses. Lifting weights in and of itself hasn't got a lot to do with playing football, but the strength it incidentally builds is desirable. Same thing with Math and many other pursuits. Now, try to tell that to some recalcitrant teenager who cries "Why do we need to know this? I will never graph a line in my dream job!" |
