| I'm thinking about going wireless using a Linksys 802.11G on my client.I've seen comments like "don't go wireless if you have a wireless phone in your house"Has anyone got any good or bad experience to share about running QA or EM over wireless?Sam |

| We use wireless at my work. I can't get a strong signal in my office, but it's great when I need to use my laptop in a conference room which almost always has windows. My office doesn't have windows, so I don't get a good enough signal. When I do get an excellent signal, all of my programs work the same as they would through a regular LAN connection.I am also considering using it at home, so I'm curious as to what problems people have in a house.Tara |

It depends on the frequency and the make of the phone. When you have narrowed down what gear you want to buy, do a google for any specific problems with that gear.I have been wireless for about 18 months, and have never looked back. I live in a 3 story townhouse and my current setup is a Belkin 802.11b Access point in the top floor attic plugged into my ADSL router, that gets a perfect signal down to the bottom floor. I can get access anywhere in the house, even outside. I have two laptops, one with a crappy old Dlink card in it, and my Dell Inspiron with built in Mini PCI card. I also have a Linksys wireless bridge which sits downstairs plugged into the PS2. I can put a hub into that to supply as many devices as I like.Basically, if you own a laptop, get wireless. You'll never look back. For guys, it's so easy to get away with as well "But honey, it means there won't be any more blue CAT5 cable on the lounge room floor."  Damian |

I totally agree. Though I have gained 15 lbs sitting on this recliner all day. Pulled the refrigerator and coffee pot to within reach and -- voilà! --Now I just need to get that bed-pan installed..  |

| I use SMC 802.11G and have not had any issues with the cordless. I need to get a bridge to hook up to my XBox, my skills as a handyman would probably result in structural damage if I tried to run Cat5 from my office to my living room through the ceilings.Justin"I want to thank you. | We have a Draytek Vigor 2600 Wireless router, with netgear usb wireless adaptors for the client side, and they work fine, even through the brick walls in the house. *so* much more convinient than cable, with only slightly more initial set up time.Performance for me is more than adequate, though of course it may depend on what you are putting across your network internally. Externally since the ADSL is always the slowest point it doesn't matter to me.PS we have cordless phones, there is no noticeable interference.-------Moo. :) |

| I finally got a Linksys Wireless-G. Fast.... and very portable. Remote Desktop and Query Analyzer run over it like it's wire.If anyone else is using or thinking of using this technology, be sure to latch the security hatches (WEP encryption and broadcast).When I first installed the wireless card in my laptop, I could connect to 2 other wireless nets nearby ... no encryption, no password, no guessing the wireless net name, no problem.Sam |

| I've a netgear 11g and it works fine except in my bedroom where it gets bad reception - opposite corner of the house to the study. Got the same gear for my mother which covers the whole house without problems.Means I can use the laptop in the lounge and remove the TV from the study which has now been taken over by junk as I don't need the room to manouver in there.Maybe I should move everything into the kitchen to be closer to tea making facilities.==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |
