Hey graz,How about a new poll? What tools (if any) do you use for db modeling?Possible answers: Visio, EM, ERWin, Access, modeling?, etc...I've started working with Visio and it got me wondering about the rest of the people here at sqlteam.JustinEdit: Some uppity white boy didn't like the word peeps "Look at it out there orbiting like it's so cool, we will rule it with an army of replicants!" |

Graph paper and pencils. Actually, I use Post-It Notes and crayon. |

Paper and pencils or Whiteboard and markers do well enough for me. One of my (rather eccentric) colleagues has pasted ERDs all over his office walls, I can't bear to sit in his office for more than 5 minutes!Owais Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot |

Whiteboards aren't too convenient when the customer wants the diagrams as part of the deliverable. Justin"Look at it out there orbiting like it's so cool, we will rule it with an army of replicants!" |

Bah! Leave politics out of sqlteam. If we want to start an idealogical debate lets re-examine the surrogate/natural key argument. The economy doesn't have anything on an identity column in your table. Justin"Look at it out there orbiting like it's so cool, we will rule it with an army of replicants!" |

You left out Embarcadero's ER Studio...ERWin works great...and if you have aplotter, you can wallpaper the office...Best feature is reverse engineering a dbOr you could alsways the telepathic method....Plugs right in to a serial portEDIT: Access?[thud]falling out of chair[/thud]Brett8-)SELECT @@POST FROM Brain ORDER BY NewId()That's correct! It's an AlphaNumeric! |

Put me down for Visio, because that's the tool that was available. Used SystemArchitect once, but not enough to judge it. Hear people talk about ERWin a lot but have never used it.--------------------------------------------------------Visit the SQLTeam Weblogs at http://weblogs.sqlteam.com |
