Hey all, I'm not a SQL person but it's now my responsibility to take care of our exiting SQL servers. I'm currently running a large program (of 17 individual databases) on SQL 2005. I contacted the vendor and asked about upgrading to SQL 2014 and was told that they don't have anyone using 2014 yet. Does 2014 have any features that would make it worthwhile to go with it or should I consider SQL 2012? Thanks,Joe B |

Also, the only search button I could find sends me to external web sites. How so I search for topics in this forum? |

If you upgrade to SQL 2014 your license will allow use of SQL 2012 - so you could pay for 2014, upgrade to 2012 (now) and get a free upgrade to 2014 later (when vendor supports it).You can set Database Compatibility to, say, SQL 2008 - so your application SHOULD!!! run fine in the mode. Needs testing though, unless vendor supports it already. I don't think Compatibility with SQL 2005 is available in 2014, but it is in 2012 (you'd need to check that, but maybe Vendor supports something more recent than 2005 )Search is here:http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/search.asp |

Thanks all. I'll follow those links and see what I can find out. FWIW I heard back from my vendor on 2014 -- nope. I asked about 2012 and now I'm waiting to hear about that. Thanks,Joe B |
