| Hi all,I know that you can get a performance boost if you put the data and indexes on two separate disks.However can you also get a performance benefit if you put them in two different filegroups but on the same disk.Thanks |

| not likely. There's just one spindle and contention for the read/write heads.note that, in some cases, you MUST put the index in the same filegroup as the data.e.g. for columnstore indexes, ff your table is partitioned, the columnstore index must be partition aligned. |
