Hi Is it advisable to change the granularity of a fact table if you know longer require data at day level only at month level? Does it require a lot of development?M |

It depends on various factors:1. The number, complexity and sensitivity of any reports that expect the granularity to remain the same as when the reports were written2. Views and stored procedures that use the fact table but assume the current granularity.3. The business users of the fact table data. Do they all buy in to this change?Perhaps the cleanest approach is to create a new fact table from the current one, aggregating the daily data into monthly facts, and use that for new reporting. |
