Guys,

here my minor trouble:
two textboxes on an Access 97 form and when I make copy & paste some text
from the 1st textbox to another one then non-latin (cyrrilic) letters are displayed
in the 2nd textbox as '????'.
This happens only in Windows 2000 Professional (Rus version), in Win 98 it works OK.

Where to dig?

I have a feeling it's a unicode conversion issue. Win98 and Access97 are not unicode sensitive, but Win2K is. Therefore Win98 and Access97 rely on the specific character set/language the computer is set up with. Win2K can represent any unicode character and may be trying to convert them even when it shouldn't.

This is just a WAG.

Thank you, guys.
I also suspected Unicode prank. But why is it so?
Regional/Language settings are standard default for
the russian edition. Maybe a bug?

Wild Ass Guess?

I just realized your problem doesn't involve a browser. It may be a problem that's application specific.

Wow!! Thank you, Sam.
As to 'a browser'... oh... seems you're a real web developer. :)

Access 2000 is unicode compatible. All of the MS 2000 products are.

Rob,

do you mean it cannot be corrected?

Probably not. There may be a service pack out there for Office 97 that corrects this problem, but I wouldn't count on it. The fact is that MS did not wholeheartedly embrace Unicode support until the 2000 edition of its products. Anytime you mix a 2000 or later edition with a pre-2000 edition you'll probably have the same issue. If you can upgrade everything to 2000 or later then you'll be fine.

Wow. Now it works! Did it by sheer accident.

Initially the form was designed on Win98 machine.

Now I open it in Design mode on Win2000 machine, do one dummy change
(namely choose other font for a textbox, then choose back previous font),
save these 'changes' of the form and .... all works fine. OMG.

Now I can't tell is it necessary to do some manipulation namely with font or
any change (e.g. of a button width) is quite enough...
