 why i can't grant any permission to current server

hi

i create a user in sql server 2008,i login with it .(it has sysadmin and public server role)

with this user i try to grant a permission to the current server.so i cheched the check boxes that i want and click "ok". now i come back to server properties page / permissions ,for certitude ,but all the permission that i granted now is unchecked.please help me about it.

After checking the boxes you want to check, instead of clicking the OK button, press Control-Shift-N. That will script the changes to permissions that you want to make to a new query editor window. Copy that code and post it (after replacing any sensitive information with dummy values). That will enable people on the forum to offer more specific help/advice.
