you cant restore a high version backup to a lower version DB server. You can do reverse though ie taking backup from sql 2008 and restoring in sql 2012------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SQL Server MVPhttp://visakhm.blogspot.com/ |

you cant get the backup created in 2012 restored on a 2008 instance under any conditions. you can restore only on 2012 instance. backups created on earlier version can be restored on any of future versions as they'll get upgraded automatically but vice versa is not possible.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SQL Server MVPhttp://visakhm.blogspot.com/ |

I want to ask a question, maybe not related to SQL but maybe you can help me.I upgraded my game server SQL to 2012, it was using 2008 R2 before, the game server is more laggy now than before, do you think the SQL 2012 could be the reason for that? Could be limited resources? When I check the ram usage, the server is using 96% of total ram.Thank you for the help |

hello jackv, I used the default settings, same as I did with SQL 2008. Maybe SQL2012 got some hidden settings causing some how malfunction? The lag begin to start when there is high load on server. I'm just curious if SQL 2012 could have effect on this issue. |

Have you seen any symptoms , such as memory pressure? Have you done some diagnostics during the high load? This could give you some cluesJack Vamvas--------------------http://www.sqlserver-dba.com |
