Does anyone know if there is an issue patching a 2nd named instance of SQL 2008 when the base install is RTM? I can't get SP1 to apply. I goes through the steps but when I check @@version, it has not been applied. The default instance is at SP1 and has been in production for over a year.lasmith, DBA |

The files are not in use. There are no errors returned by the installer to the screen.I select the instance by name during the install. The patch appears to run successfully...it just doesn't register on the instance.lasmith, DBA |

On the second attempt, I must recant my third statement. The SP1 install does not allow me to select the named instance. Only the "Shared Features" are available, and they do not need patched. What am I doing wrong? Here is the file I am using: SQLServer2008SP1-KB968369-x86-ENU.exelasmith, DBA |
