| I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for online learning schools/courses that aren't terribly expensive. I have been to a variety of sites and schools that charge about $3500 for a combination of SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services/Analysis Services and Integration Services studies. While I think there's probably a lot of value, I'm also concerned that a large part of the cost is due to the certification that comes along with it; which I'm not worried about.Our organization has a very low budget for training so I want to get as much bang for the buck as I can and still get it approved! Anyway, if anyone has had good/bad experiences with any online companies, I'd be grateful to hear about them.Thanks! |

| Way back when I was really trying hard to learn about SQL Server I got a set of CD's from a company called Learn Key. Work was able to pay for them because I was able to convince them that others on our team could use them as well. It really depends on what level you're at with your skills too. Personally I find that books now are generally better for me than the more expensive options. Amazon frequently has them used & much cheaper than buying them new at a bookstore. This is one of those topics that probably has a few hundred different opinions and ways to address it. That's my 2 cent.sMike"oh, that monkey is going to pay" |

| Hey Mike,Thanks...yes, I think current proficiency level is probably a big factor. I actually found a company that is local which teaches a similar course including SSAS/SSIS/SSRS but it does NOT have the certification program. It's about $1100 less than the one with the certification program. I also agree about books as well as internet. About 90% of everything I've learned has been from this site and a SQL Server book I use.Thanks for the input! |
