What do you guys/ Ladies own?I bought a Kirkland Massive Grill...and it fell apart, and there was no way to replace anythingPicked an Old Weber that was being tossed (I've had one in the past that I gave away because I was getting the new monster) and have put in stainless steel bars and gratesI'm pretty happy with her..gotta be 20 years old now...but my wife wants me to get a new grillI was thinking abouthttp://www.amazon.com/Weber-7470001-Summit-Natural-Stainless/dp/B003EG2KLE/ref=sr_1_3?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1332444675&sr=1-3Brett8-)Hint: Want your questions answered fast? That's pretty nice, but no way I'd spend that much for a grill.I have 2 weber kettles. One is about 8 years old and the other is older. They both work great and I can cook anything in 'em.I used to also have a gas grill (left it at the old house) that I piped in for natural gas. But I used the weber kettles an awful lot more often. |

Totally feel ya on "flippin the switch"In that case, I think the decision hinges on (wait for it) the features you value versus the price. It also makes a difference if you have a deck with a built-in spot for it. And how much you entertain. My thought has always been that I'll impress 'em with the grub not the fancy grill.I will be careful preaching here, but making yourself a great chef on whatever grill, in my opinion, is far more important than the grill itself. The only time this changes is when you're cooking for scores of people rather than tens.As an example, I can smoke 40 pounds of pork on my 2 kettles and it's awesome. If I had to smoke 120 pounds, well, it's either a 3 day project or a get a big f'n grill. Which just doesn't cut it for smoking pork. Now if I have to make 40 chickens, sure, a big ass propane grill will do just fine.Anyway Brett, I could go on, but I'd best stop. Aside from SQL Server, there are 2 other things near and dear to my heart (hobby-wise) (1) firework displays (2) grilling awesome food. So you touched on a subject that I'm likely to get long winded about |

I would SO love a gas BBQ :(Not permitted. Period. Have to cook on Charcoal. Now I have no problem with that (we have a place just down the road that has great hand-made charcoal, which is SO much better than the coal-dust that they sweep off the pit floor and PVA back together again!) ... but ...When its just the 2 of us we would use a Gas Barbie every night to cook and eat out during the Summer, and reduce wear-and-tear on the Kitchen kit. Just like you Yanks have done whenever I have visited the great US-of-A in fact.I should JFDI shouldn't I ? Meantime there is talk of building a pizza oven outside (friend have them, and I was seriously impressed, but its even more Chef-unfriendly than a Charcoal job - "Light some logs 4 hours before you want to cook ..." - yeah, that's going to be a winner every night, throughout the summer ...However, now I have some experts on hand I could do with a run-down on what a decent Gas Barbie needs to have, burner & gadget-wise please. When I do JFDI it would make sense to jump in the right direction! |

I hate paying full retail for ANYTHING..and it's a bad time to be looking..should have looked in January..but I did notice that the fire box on the old Weber is rusting through...damn thing must be 20 years old now..like I said, I grabbed her up from the trash...good thing about Webers that you can easily replace all the parts...save the cast Iron Firebox....I had already put in new stainless steel flame tamers and stainless steel cooking gratesBrett8-)Hint: Want your questions answered fast?
