I was wondering if I could run 2005 & 2008 side by side on a windows 2003 server. I just need it for development - I already have 2005 dev version installed, but was wondering if I could add 2008 dev version and if so, are there any known gotcha's?Thanks in advance to anyone who can help |

Yes you can run them side-by-side. There are no particular gotchas with Management Studio, however Visual Studio 2005 & 2008 sometime misbehave side-by-side. I believe you should install the SQL components first, then Visual Studio after, then any Service Packs. |

I have SQL2005, 2008 and 2012 (dev editions) on the same machine (win7 x64) plus VS2010 with tons of plugins and they all work fine :)www.livedoco.com - View your SQL Server structure in your browser. Live. |
