| Hello All,I am in the process of exploring and evaluating thrid party tools for 15+ SQL servers at my work.For:Monitoring SQL server (most expensive queries, blocks, usage CPU/HD, file size, alerts, index frag, stats etc..)Schema comapre between serversData compare between replication serversDatabase point in time recovery, compressed backups and restoresThese are the basic needs as of now but if there is package contianing these tools plus more would work the best as well.Can anyone please sugggest me good thrid party tools for my need and share their experience (pros and cones)Thanks, |

| +1 for red gate. we use their whole suite and like it. quest seems to have good tools too.for monitoring performance i am using ignite. the interface is dated and there aren't tons of settings and features but for performance monitoring it works great. i've played around with sql sentry and it is really powerful. i had some issues getting the sql sentry client to communicate with our hosted production database though so i ended up not purchasing the license. |

| @ferrethouse, did you contact SQL Sentry support regarding your setup issue? I have always found them to be very helpful whenever I had questions.@sqlpal2007, you have covered a broad set of goals, and I suspect you may find that multiple tools is the best approach. I use the SQL Sentry suite for monitoring our servers here. The Performance Advisor has helped me defend the honor of my servers in business discussions, and I am still a HUGE fan of the Event Manager which gives a calendar-view of stuff happening on your servers, especially scheduled jobs. I wrote up some of my first impressions and other experience with the tool suite on my blog here at SQLTeam. It really comes down to what is most valuable to you. There are a lot of different monitoring tools out there and each seems to have a slightly different focus on how they go about their job or what they emphasize on the main screen.As for data or schema comparisons between two databases, I have been happy with Red-Gate's offerings in that area (SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare).
