I associated a *.bat file to wordpad...it used to have open and edit on the menu...I wanted edit to open in wordpad...but now open or double click open it in word pad but won't launch

Anyone know how to "reset" it so it will launch on double click?

What a bozo

Maybe it is no longer a *.bat file but you can't see it?
Maybe on saving wordpad named it as YourBat.bat.txt and you don't see the .txt?

are you hiding extensions for known file types?

Can you confirm that the file is actually still a bat file?

If you shift right click in the explorer window there should be an option: "Open Command Window here"

then just do a DIR

and check that the file is actually still a bat file and not something else.

If you go to:

Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View

there is a check box called "Hide extensions for known file types"
(there is also the radio button for "Show hidden Files, folders and drives")

if you are like me you'll want to see both those things (extensions and hidden files!)

Apologies if this is teaching you to suck eggs.

You could check if you have somehow managed to asscoiate *all* bat files with wordpad by trying to run another bat file. if that one works then you know you've done something to the first bat file. If the second one opens is wordpad then you've managed to associate all bat files (which I'm not sure is actually possible)
