Hi...

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise ediiton but due to the below error , i am unable to install further. It stop sQL installation process.

Error is mentioned below:

TITLE: SQL Server Setup failure.
------------------------------

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

MsiGetProductInfo failed to retrieve ProductVersion for package with Product Code =
'{6D10FB2C-82A9-40F2-91D0-7BE64CF0DAF2}'. Error code: 1605..

BUTTONS:

OK

---------------------------------------

I have tried it with both (C2BF01D6-9A28-2F04-0D19-2FAD0FC46EB7 , C2BF01D6-82A9-40F2-91D0-7BE64CF0DAF2) of the keys to find in [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\UpgradeCodes registery entry but unable to find any key within that.

Kindly suggest that what should i do?

Hello Mafis ,
First i want to ask you a question, did you have Previous version of sql at your machine ? or fresh installation ?
If your answer is yes So the below article may help you

have installed & uninstalled sql server 2008 7 times but same thing repeats
if i select Management tools i get the error message Previous version of vsiual studio 2008 failed
if i dont select the Management tools option Sql get installed sucesfully but without ssms.exe
i even tried regedit with SPINDEX & SP values but still same
i tried everything available online but the issue persists

my system has visual studio 2008 already installed
