Database Engine not appearing in SQL Server listin

Database Engine not appearing in SQL Server listin

Hi,

I have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed in my pc with failover support. installation was successful but when i open management studio to connect to database i am not getting and database under database engine i tied using MSSQLSERVER but no luck.

pls wht is the issue and how to fix it.

Use VirtualServerName\InstanceName.

Failover support? Not on a PC.

thx its get connected.

but Missing green arrow on the sql server icon in object explore. its showing in while. is there any issue or how to make it green.

check in run->services.msc if sql server service is running

Try hitting REFRESH in object explorer. If that doesn't work, try restarting Management studio and see if you can get green arrow.

Yes, it's been quite a while. I am good, sir! Lot of changes happened in my personal and professional life, hence wasn't much active here for past couple of years

hi,

i restart agent service but no luck. i check under configuration manager here it shows play icon. i also given permission with reference to following post but still not getting green icon.

yes i am able to expand and see databases , i run the following command and get the result too.
select * from dbo.MSreplication_options on master data
