| In the not too far future we are going to have to replace one of our SQL Server 2000 standard edition instances and I have been looking for indicative pricing on our options. I fully realise there are many factors that affect this and that anyone reading this won't be able to provide precise figures, all I am looking for is an indication.As far as I can see we currently have two options, firstly we could just buy SQL Server web edition, which I see from http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/pricing.aspx is approximately half the cost of buying the standard edition. What I can't find is some sort of indication of what it would cost to upgrade to 2008 R2 either web or standard edition or even if I can upgrade to web edition. Anyone happen to have any rough figures as a guide? The only thing I have found so far on the MS site is on the link above.thankssteve-----------What color do you want that database? |

| As far as I know there is no upgrade purchase path from 2000 to 2008R2. You Jack makes a good point, if they think you are going to buy MS can be very helpful - as opposed to trying to get help on a problem. |
