This has absolutely nothing to do with SQL Server but i'll ask anyway as it is annoying........Someone (not me) has created a folder with no name (via a VB app) on one of our drives. We can't seem to delete it ?We have tried to rename (via VB as well) it but it won't have it.Whenever we try to delete it we get the error message: Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or diskAny ideas ? I am enjoying winding up the person who accidentally put it there but the time has come to be rid of it if possible. There is no security set up for this file - all the allow checkboxes are ticked.I would ask our IT bods but i fear a 6 month wait before getting a response )thanksPaul====Paul |

I have used this to do the same and you might be lucky!open a cmd window and cd to the directory that has the problem folderthen type "dir /X"this will give you a directory listing with the the 8.3 short filename displayed (usually has a ~ in it), you **might** find that the folder with no name has a 8.3 listing that you can then use to delete (del [8.3name])Hope this helps...Edited by - uberman on 04/22/2003 10:21:26 |
