I am the only SQL Server expert for my fast-growing company and I feel like it would be great (and worth the money) if I could get a guru or two to come in to my office and work with me on performance and monitoring (unfortunately I won't be able to attend Andrew Kelly's workshop). Are there people that do that type of consulting? I'm in the Seattle area. Thanks.

You might have a different idea when you find out how much that would cost.
I suspect once you include travel and accomodation - unfortunately the US$ isn't doing much better than the £.

There are also companies/people who do this remotely.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
SSIS can be used in a similar way.

You can engage MCS (Microsoft Consulting Services) to help you with this for a week to few weeks depending on the Statement of Work you put together.. but like Nigel said it can be expensive. send me a message if you want me to hook you up with proper channels if you are thinking of engaging MCS.
