Hi all,

we are having problems on more of our servers upgrading SQL 2008 x64 to SP2. We applied CU4 to them a few months back and since then we are unable to apply any other upgrades.

We are having problems on virtual x64 machines running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.

I run the installer SQLServer2008SP2-KB2285068-x64-ENU.exe
the first 2 steps (check and EULA) run OK, third step should list all available servers, and here the list is empty.
I tried instead to run there installs of other higher or lower CUs with no result, the installer simply doesn't see any SQL server instances.

Just for note: virtual machine with the same configuration running 10.0.2531.0 (SP1 with no CUs) is willing to upgrade.
Servers with x86 even with CU4 are not affected by this error.

Any ideas what to do? We've already reinstalled one server (from scratch to SQL to SP1) that now works but we have 3 other with CU4 and don't really want to reinstall all of them.

I'd highly recommend opening a case with Microsoft. They'll be able to assist you with this.
