Hello everyone, I'm very new to the DB / development world, so my question should be very simple for all of you pro's

Where I work we are writing an in house .asp application that needs to be able to generate emails to clients. What I'm wondering is if it is appropriate to use the Database Mail service in Sql 2008 for this requirment If not, then what would be a clean / appropriate alternative.

Thanks

It's not an appropriate tool for this kind of thing. Better to use an SMTP component in the application. There are plenty of free ones, there are also email services you may be able to use if you expect high email volume.
