The SP3 recommendation was not so that you can create maint plans. You can create maintenance plans on ANY version of SQL 2005, providing you have SSIS installed. The SP3 recommendation was because there were bugs in RTM that have since been patched and because RTM is not supported any longer.Impossible to tell if the backup frequency is 'correct'. Depends on yur maintenance windows, your data loss requirements, your downtime requirements, your available backup space, etc. There's no one correct backup strategy.--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |

Prior to SP1, yes. But, since you're installing SP3 (I assume), no.The need for SSIS for maint plans was one of the things fixed in Service Pack 1--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |

One thing you should realize also is that if you create maintenance plans on pre-SP1 and then upgrade to SP2/3 you will have to recreate each plan. There were significant changes (and fixes) in SP2 with regards to maintenance plans. |

There is one. Without having the backup tested correctly, there is no backup done. N 56°04'39.26"E 12°55'05.63" |

Hehe, I thought OP meant "Mounting Points" first time I read this topic.Seemed more appropriate using MP for "Mounting points" in a clustered environment than "Maintenance Plans". N 56°04'39.26"E 12°55'05.63" |
