Hi,
i have a db having around 250 tables and more to come by. We have just a primary file. so i have decided to split the files
These are my Consideration.
1)primary file containing only system tables
2)1st .ndf file containing read-only tables
3)2nd .ndf file containing highly transaction tables
4)3rd .ndf file containing tables with freq used joins .

Any corrections needed.

How big is you databases? You need to Split Data Files across Different Drives to Distribute Workloads.

Do you have the data and log files on separate spindles?

Then splitting the database into several files is not likely to accomplish anything useful. What exactly are you trying to accomplish by creating these three secondary files?

1GB is too small.
