I have configured max memory to 6 gb out of 8 gb, still sql server uses max memory.

shall i have to increase the physical ram on the machine?

Not necessarily as this is normal. SQL Server is a memory hog. To see if you are starving for more memory, run the various PerfMon counters such as Buffer Cache Hit Ratio, Page Life Expectancy, Max/Total server memory, etc...
