Hi all,

For datawarehouse real-time update, we normally have a trigger in the source system to update the datawarehouse whenever a new row is in / modified. This is ideally done with only a few tables in the source system that are required for real-time reporting.

What happened when there is like 50 or 60 tables needed to be updated on a real-time basis, what can we do to improve the performance on the source system server? Is there any alternative method to trigger the ETL from source to data warehouse without causing too much inteference on the source server?

thanks.

Does anybody do real time updates to a "warehouse"

Real time is OLTP, not OLAP

Reporting needs to be accurate to the nth micro-second?

Who are the reports for?

Bigwigs?

They don't need no stikin reports in the first place...ignorant sons of b...

ummm never mind
