Hi All,

We are about to deploy an application on a client site which require SQL Server 2005 installed on the database server. Like always we asked the client to install SQL Server 2005. They tried installing it but having problems with the install. Following is my client e-mail.

--START OF E-MAIL
"I tried to uninstall and reinstall SQL 2005 x64 installation number of times tonight and read many articles on why the SSMS tool didnt get installed during the installation process and tried many different workarounds; however, I haven't been able to find a solution yet. I have done many SQL installations and this is the first time I have encountered this problem. Can you please help me?
One of the workaround to install SSMS is to run the sqlrun_tool.exe (msi) and it is part of the client tools. The sql 2005 x64 installation files that we downloaded from Microsoft site dont contain the sqlrun_tool.exe file. Do you think there is a problem with our download? "
--END OF E-MAIL

I checked a copy of our SQL Server 2005 installer and found the file "SqlRun_Tools.msi" on the following location on one of my server (we have the whole installer on the server)

<<E:\Database Server\SQL Server 2005\SQL Server 2005 Installation Area\DEVELOPER\SQL Server x64\Tools\Setup\SqlRun_Tools.msi>>

Is it fair enough to say that my client do not have right copy of SQL install?
What should be my recomendation? Please suggest.

Thanks for the quick help.

Zee

By the way my client is trying to install "standard 64-bit SQL Server" of SQL Server 2005. Please suggest the recommendation.
