Hi all,

I am trying to configure database mirroring with SAFETY OFF; This is to enable me fail over to mirror server manually whenever the principal server crashes. I have taken a full and transaction log backups of the database to be mirrored from the principal server and copied across to the mirror server. On my trying to restore the full backup in the mirror server, I receive the following error messages:

"The media family on device 'E:\Vtmrecon_db_mirror\vtmrecon.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL server cannot process this media family. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server: Error 3241)."

How can I work around this problem?
Your prompt reply is highly valued.

Regards,
Kenneth.

Your backup is corrupt.
