Good morning, I have a basic question on installing SQL Server 2008 and all related components(SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Visual Studio). Is this a straight install on a Vista system, does one require a service pack? Does SSRS install cleanly? For SS 2005, one needed to go through a number of gyrations and tumblesaults with various settings, to get SSRS and Report Manager up and running, many of which were not documented by Microsoft.I am asking because my trial version of SS 2005 is expiring and I am planning to buy the Developers Edition of SS 2008. I tried doing a re-install on my laptop, where I have already re-installed it. The recent re-install failed. The trial version on my desktop is also expiring soon, and I thought I might as well start investigating SS 2008.I have not done any reading on SS 2008 so I am not familiar with anything related to it's installation. Thanks for reading.Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish. |

i've installed 2008 without any problems on windows server 2008 that i use as a dev machine. so i don't think there should be any problems with vista.___________________________________________________________________________Causing trouble since 1980Blog: http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/mladenpSpeed up SSMS development: www.ssmstoolspack.com <- version 1.5 out! |
