Is there a way to automatically generate a report history snapshot when the user selects the parameters and renders the report via the standard interface? Would like to avoid having the user go to the properties tab to enter parameters, then go to the execution tab (Apply button to create the snapshot) or use the new snapshot button on the history tab. The user wants to be able to enter the parameters generate the report, view it in report manager (HTML), export it to Excel and have a copy (snapshot) automatically saved in history for future use.BB |

you can configure parameters to appear in report viewer and then set value from there. You can also use url parameter (&rs:Format=EXCEL) to render the report in excel format and add a link to your main report to call this and render in excel. |

Visakh16 I have parameters that the user selects in report viewer, once the user clicks the "View Report" button I do not see a way to then have a history snapshot generated automatically? I am missing something? Thank you for the url parameter suggestion, this helps with another issue.BB |

Hi, The user is using the SSRS Report Manager web interface. They click on the report link, select parameter values, then click the view report button, and the report displays in html. From there they can export it to pdf, excel etc..... What we need to do is to create a snapshot of this report upon execution, that is then available at a later date from the history tab. I do not see a way to configure this in report manager, since the report has user selected parameters.BB |

Via report manager, using the properties tab they could create a linked report, go back to the properties tab, select the parameters, change the default values. This would then creare the history, however, it is a lot of steps. Need to know if the history snapshot can be created automatically. Thank you.BB |

Another thought, is there a way to create a execution snapshot automatically in report manager when the report has parameters that the user needs to select each time they run the report in report manager, without having to use the properties and execution tabs to manually make this happen?BB |
